Should it be this hard?!
Does anyone else feel like they're banging their head on a brick wall sometimes? I thought I was doing really well, and actually getting somewhere, but I seem to have come to a screaming halt.
I'm in the UK, and because I'm going the NHS route, I went to my GP and asked her to refer me to Lynn Webster which she was quite happy to do. She got a letter back saying that as I was out of their catchment area, they couldn't take me on. So my GP said I'd have to go to a psychiatrist and then be referred onto a Gender Clinic. This I've done, although I barely spoke two words to the psychiatrist in the three sessions I had with him for one reason or another. Anyway, he was most happy to refer me on except that the doctor he usually referred his patients to wasn't taking any new referrals due to being under investigation (he wouldn't name names, but I think we can all guess who this is). As a result, he didn't know where else to send me. I told him I'd had Guys Hospital and Edinburgh suggested to me so he said he'd look into those.
A month later, I'm still waiting. I actually had a call from the location manager at the psychiatrist's office the other day, saying that they were still struggling to find somewhere to send me. Again I advised Guys and Edinburgh and was told that they'd look into them. Is it just that I'm particularly awkward or is this really taking the piss? I'm getting more frustrated by the day and feeling like I can't really do anything because I've not yet had chance to discuss transition with anyone.
I don't exactly know what to do here, I've passed the information on to them, what else can I do or is it just a matter of waiting?
