trans | (no subject)

Hi everyone, I just found this community and decided to join. My brother is transgendered (his birth name was Meridith, but he's officially changed it to Merid and is generally called Mer). It's something I (more or less) grew up with, so while many people think his change had some sort of horrible detrimental effect on me, it has been quite the opposite! The support my parents have always given him, and the way they take in his friends who have often been shunned by their own families, has been rather an inspiration to me :)
