Progress
Well, it's been a while since I posted anything to here, so I thought I would send out a note on a pretty eventful couple of weeks.
Things are still moving pretty slowly for me; another month until I actually get to talk to a GP, who can then refer me to a specialist. So no change there... I was tempted to talk to my normal GP, but she is already pushing me almost offensively hard on some issues, and I decided not to strain the trust I have in her any more. So... We wait.
Last week, I got my aunt signed up on LJ, and friended her. I then pointed her at the first post of my journal, and let her read from there... Her reaction was overwhelmingly supportive! She now knows that I am a bisexual polyamorous pagan transgendered girl, and still loves me and would do anything for me. She was very, very emphatic about it, which was nice. We talked a bit about how long this has been effecting me, and some stories from my childhood; refusing to go to sunday school one week because the room was pink, and that was a "girl's color" (I still hate pink with a passion, and still suspect I just didn't want to go to sunday school; see pagan above. ;) ), and a short time later my idea and insistance of dressing up as a bride for haloween. :) My aunt has always been my second mom, especially since my actual mom passed on a few years back, so her support means a /lot/ to me.
We also told my wife's parents the news. They were stunned, but tentatively supportive. We're still waiting for it to sink in a bit more. Her dad has, apparently, been doing at least a little research on his own before we told them, likely because I have so many TG friends, one of whom is in Thailand right now and one planning to go late this year, whom I hope to go help. For instance, he corrected my wife on something the other night, the name of the surgery IIRC, which was cute. :) Still, her dad is known for fast, harsh reactions to change (He didn't talk to her for 6 months when she told them she was moving to America to marry me... And refused to talk about the child at all when he found out a few years back that she was pregnant...) so the fact that he didn't overreact, toss me out, yell, or whatnot was, well, almost anticlmactic. So, another positive reception...
We likely won't tell more family for a while though, at the very least until after I start seeing actual doctors about this, but these three people were important enough to us that we want them to know what is going on, and offer the chance of involvement to them... We shall see!
Just a reminder, by the way, to newcomers that there is a community for Australian TG's recently set up. It's pretty low volume so far, but we are getting there. Mostly it is there to talk specifically on the australia-specific things like doctors, laws, and whatnot. Oh, and I have heard good things about these programs, so giving them a shot... If y'all could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Spout off in my journal entry if you do; any more than 5 people on the first and 10 on the second is wasted when you could be helping others. :) I know several people who have gotten these, so they seem pretty legit. They are also seperate, so you can do both pretty easy...
