Book: Straight talk about Gays in the Work Place by: Liz Winfeld
I was reading this and this paragraph stood out too me much too hard. Its in Chaper 5 called Meaningul Education and Policy about Gender Idenity.
As I mentioned in Chapter 1, the "T" in LGBT stands for transgender. In this chaper we will learn why its not precisely correct that transgender people be lumped in with the issues of sexual orentation in the workplace, because being transgendered has nothing more to do with a person's sexual orentation then not being transgender does. However, there's nothing wrong with transgendered people being aligned with the gay community, even though, to their discredit and my distaste, some gay people think that there is something wrong with this alignment. These are gay people who think including transgender issues in the fight for civil rights or work place right makes it more difficult for gay people to get what they believe they deserve. I find it perplexing and ridiculous that people who are fighting for inclusion can try to make it difficult for others to join in that very same fight.
OMG - isn't that what we are trying to do as Transgendered and Transsexual people - fight for the same rights within the same community????? Last time I checked. Yet no one thinks we belong there for whatever reason that is. This book is a great book - I would recommened it to anyone to read it. This chapter was amazing and thats just the first paragraph.
Lets rock on together and get it all done and done the right way for the Queer Community - Unity for all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
