Thursday October 14th
Gender Crash Open Mic!

Where you can be a Rock Star! for at least 3 minutes!
Open mic for poets/spoken wordsters/literary geeks/journal writers/queers/transgender/gender queers

Feature: Angela Palmero

Angela Palermo lives in Denver, Colorado. Although relatively new to the local poetry scene and creative writing in general, she regularly reads her work at the Mercury Cafe. She was invited to perform at the slam poetry event at Metropolitan State College, Hear Queer Sounds and the Mercury's Erotic Poetry Festival on New Year's Eve. Angela performed at LadyFest Out West in August and the Boulder Pride celebration in September. She has been published in the LAWCHA Newsletter and the University of Colorado's poetry collection "Slam This!" Three of her poems have been featured on ButchDykeBoy.com and she will have two poems in a forthcoming issue of Transgender Tapestry magazine. She will also be appearing in Colorado filmmaker Diane Israel's as yet untitled documentary on beauty and body image. Angela would love to see a world where freedom of gender expression is taken for granted. She is not, regrettably, a champion kickboxer, but she does enjoy kicking a** (in a rhetorical, non-violent way, of course).

Gender crash will take you from politics to erotica in less than 5 minutes. A fun, welcoming, exciting, and often flirtatious crowd where open mic performances range from spoken word, to comedy, to drag, or acoustic music, all from newbies to veterans.

Need a a break from gender conformity?
