Call for Participation
The Gender Cabaret
Date: November 18, 2005 @
Bowling Green State University
Bowling Green, Ohio, USA
Happily seeking Genderlicious Poets, Musicians, Vocalists, Drag Kings, Drag Queens, Performance Artists, Comics, Spoken Word Warriors, Karaoke Enthusiasts, Jugglers and Sword-Swallowers (Well, maybe not the last one, but you get the point…)
As part of the Transgender Awareness Days (TAD) at Bowling Green State University, we seek individuals and groups who are willing to participate in The Gender Cabaret. The Gender Cabaret will be a bevy of talented and diverse folks who explore themes of gender and social justice in their work. This can include: poetry/spoken word, musical performance, drag acts, performance art, comedy routines or any other talent (or lack thereof) you would like to share.
We encourage all people to take part in this—first-timers are welcome! There will be a variety of themes explored, including: transgender rights, feminism, civil rights, racial justice, disability issues, queerness, body images, liberation, etc. Whether it is lip-syncing as a drag king or queen or performing that new poem or song you have written, WE WANT YOU! If you are interested, please email a TAD organizer:
Jeanette Beal at jkbeal@bgnet.bgsu.edu or Joelle at joeller@bgnet.bgsu.edu
Additional Info about TAD events appears below. We look forward to hearing from you!
