School - Stealth vs. Open...

I've been meaning to post this for the last week or so, but I've been busy and I'm just now getting around to it. I was wondering what everyone's experiences were with being out or stealth at college and school in general. What did you actually do? How did that work? What do you recommend and why?

I'm just trying to decide what I want to do /before/ I get to college in January...
