Vancouver, British Columbia – The Trans Cycling Odyssey is a cross Canada cycling trip to Raise Transgender awareness and for Suicide prevention. The May 1st to August 4th trip is in memorandum of Alexandria Tucker, a Victoria-based Trans woman and activist, who took her own life in April of 2005. We hope to raise awareness as well as fundraise for the Alexandria Tucker Memorial Scholarship which will be available at the University of Victoria. We will be giving talks and events throughout Canada and have already been booked for several stops along the trip.
We are two Trans-men, Noah Adams (24) and Keenan Pinder (32), who were deeply affected by the loss of our friend Alexandria Tucker. We have chosen to honor her life and memory through this cycling trip, and by spreading Transgender awareness, and the realities of suicide. We are not athletes, nor are we professional cyclists; we are merely two rather average guys who feel that the best way to bring attention to our cause is to give something of ourselves. By doing this cycling trip we will be pushing ourselves physically to the extent that we are hoping to push others.
This trip will take us along the Trans Canada Highway from Victoria, British Columbia to St. John’s, Newfoundland, covering more than 7000 kilometers along the way. We will see the nation as few have had the opportunity before us and will be joined by cyclists along the way. Several individuals will be cycling portions of the trip with us and will be providing us with shelter in their cities of origin.
We have already been fortunate enough to receive support through donations of two bicycles, and through monetary donations by individuals, universities and organizations. We have also been fortunate to raise a modest amount through the various fundraisers we have held so far. A full list of sponsors can be found on our website in the links section.
We are available for media interviews and questions at any time by contacting Noah Adams. As residents of both Victoria and Vancouver we are available before the trip in those cities and will be available across Canada during the trip itself. We are also available for speaking engagements in various cities, please contact if you would like help in putting on one of our engagements or would like to book us.
If you would like more information please contact Noah Adams at somethinglikeme@gmail.com or check out our website at www.flyingtrannys.com. You can also reach us by phone at (604) 312-LUNA.
Sincerely Yours, Noah Adams
