And why does it give problems, apart from the non-T related ones (lung cancer etc)?

Also, I've read that you have to avoid alcohol while you're on T.
Again, is it just the ABUSE of alcol you have to abstain from, or can't I EVER drink alcohol again after I'm on T? Can I still drink it occasionally and seldomly get drunk? Can I drink it occasionally but NOT get drunk, or can't I drink any of it, period?

comments

I've got a relatively small chest, so this is mostly sufficient, but it bugs me that I can't wear tighter shirts on occasion, so today I bought an Ace bandage. I've heard all of the really scary stories about people who broke ribs or caused damage due to binding with one, but getting a serious binder is pretty much out of the question for me at the moment. So my questions:

Will I be okay using it maybe once a week?
The FTM guide says to wrap it "loosely" around your chest but what the heck does that mean?
Any other safety tips?

comments

This week though, for the first time since I started college (where I'm perceived as female), a guy hit on me and I gave him my contact info.

So now that I might start dating as a girl, I have to worry about men kissing me and maybe caressing me and feeling a little bit of stubble or trying to put his hands in shirts or on boobs (my boobs are VERY small and I wear breast forms).

So for those of you who have "passed" and who have been in situations like these, what have you done? Did men try feel you up without talking about it/asking first? Have you gotten by without laser/electro without guys noticing?

Ugh, I'm so excited to start dating but I'm really worried about this. Please let me know your experiences.

comments

I've been really lazy and haven't really started.

So, before I actually start... I want to hear from the rest of you. What do you need from your allies? What do you need from your supporters so that they can also be good allies (since being a supporter and being an ally aren't always the same thing)?

What are specific things that people could do that are not perhaps readily apparent to those who mean well?

If you like, mention what you might need from a healthcare professional so that they are more trans-friendly, a teacher, a professor, a neighbor, a fellow PTA member, etc.

Comment with as few or as many words as you like. Thank you. :)

Edit:

Also, if you're aware of a trans-ally and/or LGB-ally resource I should look at, please pass on the information.

(I'm already looking at these zines: "Tim Tum: Trans Jew Zine" by Micah Bazant, "Clutch: The Hinge of Allies" by Jacoby Ballard, "Subject to Change # 12" by Toby, "Dancing with Myself: The Trans Ally Issue" by Pony, and probably some others that I've forgotten I have stashed away somewhere...)

comments
