Positive Healthcare Experience

Hello All,

I ended up at the emergency room yesterday for chest pain, apparently due to some inflammation from my top surgery 8 weeks ago. I was super nervous about going to the ER and not my regular doctor, explaining that yes I am a guy, and yes I had a double mastectomy 8 weeks ago. I've heard and read so many horror stories about poor healthcare for trans and genderqueer folks, especially in the ER, so I just wanted to share with everybody that despite my fears, I received excellent care from a very understanding and supportive group of people. They really surprised and impressed me. It was nice to not have to worry about gender, and just focus on why I was there. For anyone interested in the long version, it can be found in my journal here. (Was friends only, but I'll unlock it for now in case anybody wants to read.) FYI, for those in the Denver metro area, this was at Swedish Hospital.

(xposted a bit, because I felt it was important)
