As you can probably guess, I'm back for advice and help. Remind me to actually respond this time. .
For those that may not remember, I've had problems coming out with my mom, as her ex-husband ( which is about as literal a term as it gets without being offensive. . ) went through SRS about the time they divorced. On my part, I saw no indications that she was transitioning, or wanted to be a girl. So, part of coming out to her means that I have to work around that issue, and explain that transitioning for me is purely of my own interests and desires, and nothing else. Which doesn't sound as hard now. . Although, part of what makes me want to come out say, tomorrow, is that we're going to Disneyland on the 15th and 16th. Lame as it sounds, I'd rather have a great time as her daughter, than a mildly-entertaining time as her son - which has always been the reason why I don't go with her to places anymore. So, coming out advice would help, or else I'll just fumble through it on my own. ^^
Besides that, there's a few things that I still need to get through on a mimimum budget: a) changing my name, b) getting my face zapped of hairs, and c) starting on HRT. This site has most of the information that I'd need: http://www.thehotproject.org/ But I do have questions about it.
First, I'm not a hundred percent sure on the name change process. Would I have to go through the courts first, then the DMV and Social Security office? . . I'm not too worried about paying a fee if that becomes an issue, since I've only made minimum wage for two months.
Along that line, is it unheard of for a transsexual to have their gender changed legally without SRS? I know for me it'd save a lot of hassle if I could get that to happen, but I'm not sure how the laws work with such a thing. Perhaps living full-time for two years would be enough? . . so if anyone from California, or San Diego for that matter, knows about either of those, that would help. ^^
Oh, yes. For anyone in Southern California as well. . I'm not sure whether electrolysis or lazer would be a better option for me. My facial hair grows fairly long in about a week ( which means regular shaving. . ) and it's black, while my face is a light tanish color. If nothing else, knowing what places to call and ask these questions to would be better. ^^
And since I don't have health insurance, how would I go about talking to a doctor or endocrinologist? Would I just call random ones and ask them about it? I'd rather not have to go through therapy for a few months if I don't need to ( and besides dealing with my mom, I really don't see any issues I have. . ). If that wouldn't work, I could always refer them to my friend, who could easily tell them that I've been full-time for a few years.
Still, how would I go about that? . .
I think that was badly-written enough. Wouldn't you agree? . . for an awkward closing sentance, why is it that some trans-people would call themself both a, say, male-to-female and a crossdresser? Or am I thinking to binary? =P
