Hiya.
I'm yet another IT worker at yet another large company. I'm lucky to be at a small branch office, and most of the staff around me also falls into the liberal IT worker/developer/engineer category. I'm going full time in a few weeks, and am bracing myself for the experience. (Be it bad or good, hopefully it will be good.)
I ask to everyone who has gone full time at one of the larger companies out there.. (You know, any fortune 500 or 1000 type place..) How was your experience? Were you accepted, and allowed to work as normal? Were you celebrated as a brave soul in the corporate world? Snubbed? Treated as the boy in a dress, or the girl in a suit? I'm just curious, since through my wandering around the web, I've ran into a lot of stories that most people who transition at work, usually leave that company with the next two years.. not necessarily due to firing, but mostly due to wanting to get away from people who still see them as $OldName.
Any thoughts or experiences on this?
