Eye and I

Had an eye exam yesterday and got new frames, yay! Minimalist look, wireless bottom, magnetic shades... they make my eyes more visible than what i wear now, and are a bit more feminine (i've had my current frames 2 or 3 years, and only went full-time this January, but they are rather feminine looking anyway... hmmm, go figure :p ). The doc switched my contact brand to something thinner since estrogen causes the eyes to dry (well, except for when i'm crying ;). I was surprised that the prescription hadn't changed at all during transition, so that's kewl. Here's a bit of irony... with contacts in i can't focus up close anymore, so she suggested i wear reading glasses with my contacts for up-close stuff. Yeeeeeshhhh. So, yeah, i bought some, and yeah, they do work, so...

But here is my point... I still marvel at times on how well i am accepted in my transition. It's been over a year since i've been to the eye clinic and, even though my medical records are still in my male name (until i can afford the legal name change) they didn't bat an eyelash when i casually mentioned what my new name is, and they got the pronouns right. No questions on their part, no explanations on mine. Very much a non-event, which i find quite pleasant. :)
