The person who commented on my last post reminded me of something I think us mods have been ignoring lately, if you are making a long post on the community, it is much nicer to make LJ cuts. I don't know about anyone else, but my friends list is pretty crowded as it is, but an LJ cut helps keep stuff from clogging up the friends list. If your post is going to be longer than a Paragraph or so, please make it a cut. There are several ways to do this.
The easiest way is to use the Rich Text Editor which allows you highlight/select all the text you want to "cut" and then hit the Lj-Cut button. It will bring up a dialog box that says what message you want to enter which will show up in place of this text. So essentially it is like a link. Although when you view the post on it's own page the text shows up in its entirety
Otherwise you have to use the Livejournal HTML code:
Type <lj-cut text="This is a cut"> before the text you want to hide, replacing "Read more" with the word or phrase to link to the entire entry. If you want to start showing text again, type </lj-cut> after the text you want to cut.
Here is the LJ FAQ Page about it.
Thanks everyone
