ooh, news!
Oct. 6th, 2002 03:04 pmi'm thinking of taking on the office of residential life (ORL, who i work for as a student leader) and pushing them to let me live with boys or by myself, since it's driving me crazy to live with girls. and these are GIRLY girls. i love many girly girls, don't get me wrong...but the assumption that we are all similar enough to live together simply because we're all female-bodied is downright stupid. i would rather live with boys, just because i think i'd be more comfortable...so i'm gonna try and get ORL to "accommodate my needs as a transgender student," as i'm gonna put it to them. you think i can do it? any input? i'm really hooked into the queer/trans communities on campus, and also into ORL, so i think i'm in a really good position to do it...as opposed to an incoming freshman trans student who wouldn't have that kind of leverage. it would be really cool to set a precedent for UCLA...y'know? i'm excited!
