Important Community Information
Oct. 6th, 2002 11:13 pmGood evening. I'm Nilesta, a member of the LiveJournal Abuse Team. First, I would like to assure everyone that the community itself is not in trouble, nor is it in any danger of being suspended.
The community was brought to our attention when we received complaints of trolls in the community. As protecting communities from trolls is something best left to the maintainer of the community, with the tools at their disposal, we contacted the maintainer. He related to us that he was no longer interested in maintaining the community, and asked us to give it to someone who was.
As such, I have been made temporary maintainer of the community. I have deleted the trolling post, and banned the user from the community. I will be acting as the maintainer of the community until such time as I can find someone to replace me as the new, permanent maintainer.
I will not be changing the community, or any of it's rules in any way. I am simply here to keep out the trolls. Any changes to the community, it's rules, or it's methods of opperation will be in the hands of your new maintainer. If you are interested in the position, please continue reading...
I'm interested in maintaining the community, what do I need to do?
First, you must be a member of the community, and you must be watching the community. You can not be an effective maintainer if you do not know what is going on.
Second, you must have the time to monitor the posts of the community, to assure not only protection from trolls, but adherance to the Terms of Service, as that will also be your responsibility. As I am not aware of how often posts are made, I can not tel you what sort of time that will take. Suffice to say a quick skim every couple of days or so should keep the community running smoothly.
If you believe you are up to the task, and wish to be considered as a maintainer, please comment to this post.
Depending upon the number of volunteers, I may hold a vote sometime in the next couple of weeks. Volunteers should comment here, and anyone interested in the direction of the community may wish to start getting to know the candidates.
Should anyone need to contact me, they can either email me at nilesta@livejournal.com, or open an abuse request, with 'Attn: Nilesta' in the subject.
