This is an ad for the phone service, Boost. Warning: This ad might be offensive to some viewers, so watch at your own risk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad3YmvtsLu4

I actually saw this ad on TV, and I didn't really like it. It features an all-male pit crew dressed in drag changing out the tires for race car driver, Danica Patrick. The general theme of the current Boost advertising campaign is called Wronged/Unwronged, and according to the commercial's producer, "a visual wrong" is displayed to capture the audience's attention. Part of the dialogue from the commercial is, "You think this is wrong? I'll tell you what's wrong...." In all fairness, Danica does say in the commercial, "This isn't wrong. It's teamwork!" in reference to her pit crew.

I've read a few comments posted elsewhere about whether the commercial is or should be considered offensive to transpeople. Apparently, an employee of Boost's parent company, Sprint, has taken offense to the ad. She has chosen to use the ad as an opportunity to open up dialogue with her employers and educate them about transgender issues (for more info, see her blog here: http://www.monicahelms.com/blog/men-in-dresses/boost-mobile%E2%80%99s-education-on-trans-issues.htm). Trans issues aside, the commercial isn't funny to me.

I was interested in knowing how other people feel about this ad, and whether or not other transwomen think the ad is offensive to members of the trans community.
