This evening I was driving home from medical school. About a mile from my apartment in the suburbs, (out by Dash Point from Federal Way, WA for those who are familiar with the area it's quiet) I get pulled over by the local police. So I pull over after checking my speed, which was actually below limit.

So some background from me, I have no criminal record, I served honorably in the military after six years, I've been a college student with a 3.8 GPA going on 3 years now, between my liberal arts degree and my certification for Medical Assisting, and the only thing I've got on my record is a 30$ parking ticket I paid for two years prior.

So there I sat alone, in scrubs, only my book bag in the back seat and my purse up front, the inside is well kept and uncluttered. My car is flanked on either side by two police officers. So I smile and ask what the problem is, and he asks rather sternly If I knew one of my brake lights were out. I had just replaced the thing the week prior, but I'm not known for my auto-repair skills. I apprised him of what I had done and was at a loss why it wasn't working. I handed him my license, reg, and insurance all well in order.

I set in my car for 15 minutes while they set in their cruiser, when two additional cruiser pull up behind them and 3 total additional police step out talking to the first two cops who pulled me over. Ten minutes later the two same cops come back to my car and ask me to step out of my car. So I politely follow the directions and he steps in to my now open car door and asks, "If there is anything he should know about in my car." I didn't so I ok-ed a search of my car. The other three then join and there are four cops searching my car. The first asks me to open my trunk, which I do. Inside sets a spare brake light, tire, tire iron, jack and a change of clothing.

He asks me to set on the curb side while he riffles through my trunk. He turns back to me and points at my arms and asks if I "use." On my arms are a number of small red bumps from practice Intradermal TB testing done with saline. I explain this in detail after several probing questions on the the issue, to include "will you test positive if we take you to the station and draw your blood?" By this time my optimism has turned to disbelief.

When he finally finishes questioning me and the search of my car is over which doubtlessly came up empty the cop hands me back my information, and tells me to replace that light. I ask if he can help as I'm sure I didn't install it right. Which I didn't, no thanks to the cop who just
