Somewhere down on the lakes
full of swans, ducks, and drakes,
this small ugly duckling
feared the others' judging.

Not like the other ducks,
it was different and stuck.
In its mind, it was ugly.
Confused and sad justly.

Over time, it made due
with its mind / body too.
It accepted its life
despite it feeling strife.

One day, swans swam over.
They saw it was a loner.
The swans realized the truth,
something true since its youth.

"Hello, can you not see?
You are a swan, like me."

The duckling heard and thought,
why make me more distraught?
Feeling baffled, it froze
and clang to what it knows.

It wished it was a swan
and pictured a new dawn.
To be free and happy,
but a dream life sadly.

"Duck life is not so bad.
Someday I will be glad."
One day, it will forget,
but it still has not yet.

(Just a brief poem I wrote the last 30 minutes. I know there are cadence issues with it too. Just felt like sharing here.)
