Oct. 25th, 2010 11:48 pmi've encountered, what i've decided to call, a "trans-stupid" psychiatrist in a mental health day treatment program i'm attending for mental wellness.
since GID (gender identity disorder) is in the DSM, and the DSM is basically the psychiatry bible, shouldn't she know more about it, or at least how to interact with a trans person?
ANYWAY, what i'm looking for if help finding some information i can print off for her to better her understanding, and future treatment of trans people. this is where you come in, yes YOU! do you know of a fantastic "how to deal with a trans patient" thingy i can give to her? (thingy being a very technical word, of course)
i'm sorry my thoughts are jumbled, i'm crabby about the whole ordeal, so i'm having a hard time focusing.
thanks in advance for any and all help! :)
