I've never seen a post pertaining to...anything like this, but hopefully someone will be able to give me some answers.

I'm taking a creative writing class this semester and a lot of my work focuses on trans people (FtM's in particular since I am one). One of our first assignments is to describe ourselves doing something we love, and being a wholly uninteresting shut-in, I described myself getting dressed in the morning. That wouldn't be such a huge problem if I hadn't come across a major hang up with my wording.

I don't really give a damn one way or the other about political correctness (in fact, I really hate it, but that's a whole other discussion for another time), but I don't go out of my way to be an ass about it either and as I was writing, I was trying to make a distinction between myself and a cis man...and wound up using the word/phrase "cis gender". This is a HUGE problem because this piece is supposed to be relatively short (just a few hundred words) and I don't have the space or a proper lead in to explain what this means since, technically, it's considered jargon. I know that you can also use Male-Assigned-At-Birth, but that's also problematic due to the way my piece is worded.

I do my writing to spread awareness, much like my presentations, but when I do the latter, I'm always able to put a disclaimer on them and tell people that I, personally, am not offended by what the majority of the trans community deems politically incorrect. This time, I don't have that window of opportunity, so I'm asking this: Are there any other non-jargon words/phrases I can use to make this distinction WITHOUT being totally politically incorrect?

The assignment is due sometime tomorrow night, so any feedback between now and then would be much appreciated.
