Well I have been seeing a counseller at SCSU for a few months now about my gender identity and she gave me a number to a local therapist who specializes in transgender. I was happy she found him since he was not listed on any sites for transgender therapists outside of the Twin Cities and one in Duluth. After coming out to my parents last weekend, who are very supportive, I feel now I have the strength to take this next step. I never feared that they would not accept me, but what stopped me from coming out sooner was me accepting myself. Both my parents urged me to go se a specialist and offered finacial help for me if I need it. Today my mom said she was going to a counseller to find out what she can do to help me through transition. It was really nice to hear them say that all they want is for me to live my life the way it makes me happy and that thy under stand why I told them when I did, that I had to wait until I was ready. I just meant a lot to me and I wanted to share it with all of you who have given me advice.
