i bought a light grey, short sleeved button down and a pair of flat front, light coloured khakis for my friend's wedding. they both happen to be articles of men's clothing. i plan on wearing an a-shirt and the binder-bra that i just bought underneath and my black doc martin boots, as well. it's a very nice outfit. i look good in it. i asked my mom if i should wear a tie with it. she made a face at me, and said, "what, like loosely tied? or a scarf?" and i was like "no... a tie. if my step dad was wearing what i'm wearing would you make him wear a tie?" she said "yes, but you aren't him." i conceded that point to her, but asked her where the ties are. she showed me with a heavy sigh. i jokingly asked her what happened to my progressive feminist mom and she replied with "she just doesn't understand why you want to dress like a man."

*shrug and sigh*

i thought my mom was a little cooler than that. she's not going to forbid me to do it or anything, but she'll give me those little disapproving looks and sighs that make me feel a whole lot worse about what i'm doing than anger ever would.
