a call for help for a friend
Mar. 30th, 2004 04:32 pmHello, I'm new here, and I ask you all to bear with me (and humbly apologize for just barging in here with this post), but I hope you will all understand.
I'm writing today because I have a dear friend who is slowly spiraling downward. I've known him for many years now, and he's recently come to terms with "herself", but now she is being bludgeoned by family and friends that she's opened up to. She has a few of us who are being supportive and trying to be helpful, but there are only a small few of us right now, and so many that are against her. They tell her she's crazy, that she doesn't know what she's talking about, that it's all a cry for help and attention and that the signs she's attributing to wanting to be female that have been going on since she was about 7 are "completely normal for any boy to go through, lots of guys like to dress up in girls clothes and play with dolls! But you don't know that because you've never talked to any guys about this!"
She's shown me logged conversations with these people in which they blatently argue with her that no matter what she is wrong and doesn't know what she's talking about, and she needs to listen to them because THEY are right. These people have even gone so far as to claim that she's possesed by a demon that is only making him think he's a she, and staged a home made exorcisim that scared her witless.
She started a LJ so that she could give herself a voice, but now they have her so upset/terrified that she won't post in it because of their comments.
I found this community because she has it linked to her friends page. I'm sorry to just show up like this and all, but I love my friend, no matter what he/she is, and I am so worried about her right now. She's suffered from terrible depression before, even had to be hospitalized because of it, and the abuse she's suffering from because of them is driving her crazy. I can't talk to her without her being in tears, and I'm worried of what might happen if they don't let up.
I'm not really sure what to ask you guys for...she' needs help so badly, but I don't know what to do for her anymore (I live in PA, she lives in FL for one thing). If anyone has any suggestions for me, or her (or both) I would appreciate it. I don't want to list her name here out of privacy (but if she sees this, She'll know it's for her, and I hope she understands I do this for love, not to embarris her)
Thank you all for your time and attention
Love, light, and brightest of blessings
