Transgender in the workplace...

transI wonder if I could ask for some advice????
I am really close to living fulltime as a female, and it is getting harder and harder to keep up this double life. However, I can not afford to lose my job right now.
So, I want to find out what the HR department and the CEO at my employer think about transgender people and if they would support someone transitioning on the job.
How do you think I would go about doing this?
I set up a fake email account, and my plan so far is to send the director and vp of hr an email from this account. I would word it like I was doing research for a report or something.
Do you think this is a good idea?
If so, what questions do you think I should include?
