Hello,

I'm an educator in an elementry school. Today I talked to my staff about LGBT issues. They gave me many questions, and I'm not sure how to address them all. I would be particulary interested in hearing from youth in school who have or are in the process of transitioning and how their schools/teachers/peers are dealing with it. Are there any students who are "out" as trans in their school and what have the reactions been. If you aren't out, but are passing, how are you dealing with issues such as bathrooms/changerooms. If you wish to specifically address the questions my staff asked, here are a few that would be related to trans issues:

1. How can you support the people/children that are being teased about this (LGBT)... strategies other than bullying strategies.

2. How can one help a child that thinks they are LGBT?

3. How does/should LGBT issues affect which changeroom/bathroom students use vs/ should use? (elementary and high school)

Thank you for your answers in advance.

-Kathen
