Greetings!
The purpose of this letter is to ask you to participate in a research study about the experience of trans women. The purpose of the research study is to explore the experience of trans individuals using the lens of successful aging. In other words, how does the impact of trans identification impact the quality of life as a person ages? The intent is to document the life experiences of trans women to inform the research literature with the ultimate goal to influence public policy regarding trans individuals. The study is being conducted as part of an undergraduate research project at Bowling Green State University. The goal is to describe the successful aging experience of trans women.
Participants in the research project will be interviewed either face-to-face or on the phone. The interview is estimated to last at least one hour. In some instances, the interview may last longer depending on the participant’s responses. The interview will be recorded in order to ensure accuracy in transcribing the interview responses. Confidentiality will be maintained at all times. Participants will be assigned a code number and only code numbers will be used in the transcription, data analysis, and data reporting. Participation is completely voluntary.
If you have any questions or comments about the study, you can contact me, Jeanette Beal. I can be contacted at 419-575-1053 or via email at jkbeal@bgnet.bgsu.edu or my faculty mentor, Laura Landry-Meyer at landrym@bgnet.bgsu.edu.
