Psychologist in St. Louis area?
Mar. 19th, 2005 09:07 amDoes anyone know of a trans-knowledgable psychologist in the St. Louis area?
Dr. Michael Bailey will be coming to Wash U in St. Louis to speak, a transphobic and homophobic psychology professor, and he may be hired here. He believes in "autogynphelia"-- that transsexuals are really in love with "the idea of being a woman" (his "research" wholly neglects to mention FTMs and transgendered ppl who aren't transsexual). He calls transsexual women gay men and pathologizes the GLBT community-- he would be a dangerous addition to Wash U and a huge step backwards.
He is giving a talk on Monday March 28th at 4 pm in Psychology 216 A & B on the Wash U campus. I was hoping to find a colleage of his who can refute his claims, as his talk will be a basis for whether he is hired at Wash U.
PLEASE if you know of a profesional in the St. Louis area who is trans-knowledgable, please let me know so I can get in touch with them. A colleague of Dr. Bailey's (a psychologist) would be preferable, but anyone who can speak to his level knowledgably and intelligently and can refute him is needed.
Also: *Please post this* in other GLBT communities in which you belong if you think it will help me get in touch with someone.
