Body image question
Jun. 30th, 2005 02:21 pmHi everybody - I hope you'll forgive me poking my nose in here. I have a whole bunch of trans friends in my life and online, but I'm way too shy to ask this question of them. I'm only aware of one person in this community who knows me, though, so I thought it might be okay to ask it here. (At least I hope!) Primarily I'm looking for responses from pre-op and non-op people of any gender, but post-op thoughts about your life before SRS are welcome too.
How do you feel about your genitals when you are in the shower? It's not like sex, where you can be in control of how your parts are treated. If you want to be clean, you have to touch and manipulate your genitals. If a transwoman is female in all parts of her life, to everyone, at all times, but for her own reasons is pre-op or non-op, then she still washes her penis in the shower. Ditto for a transman...he still has to clean out the vulva area. I'd love to hear your thoughts about this part of naked life as a human.
I do want to point out that I'm not trying to be gruesome, literal, or insensitive by asking this question here. It is something I wonder about, so I have tried to ask in the most respectful way possible. Thanks. :)
