transLaser technician,
zap my face.
The gooey gel goes on,
covering me in a paste.
'Don't worry,
we'll start low'
(she says)
and in a fury,
the red light and heat...
deliver its blow.
Ouch! like a finger snap,
or an elastic band flip.
Smarting and sore,
(she says)
'Just wait till we
do the upper lip!'
And so out I go,
ice packs in hand.
This is what it takes,
(I muse)
to get to the promised land!
