school's going to be a bit of a struggle.
Nov. 30th, 2005 11:22 pmHi, I'm Amy. this is my first post in this community. I'm 19, MTF, pre hormone, pre-op, and I'm in highschool.
Yesterday I went to school "en femme" for the first time. I went straight to my only class and walked right by everyone standing outside smoking. They were seriously crowded outside the classroom trying to look in and see me by the time I got to my seat. I felt like a celebrity. I asked the teacher to call me Amy, she said ok, and even changed the name on my folder. wasn't a big deal to her.
today when I walked into school I was told to report to the counselor’s office. I went in there and she asked me a few pointless questions she was curious about while we waited for "Mr. Hayes" whose position she wouldn't tell me
So "Mr. Hayes" comes and introduces himself and we go into another office to talk. Basically he said that I need to remove my breasts and in the future come to school dressed male. I told him I'd get a letter from my therapist. He cited the Tinker v. DesMoines case. Then he said that even so, my midriff is showing. I agreed with him on that one, that I was breaking the rules, and agreed to keep my coat on. The rest however would only be complied with for the time being, and will change in the future. He also said that talking about a pending sex change operation is not appropriate in school. He kept asking me if I could see where he was coming from. I told him I can see where the Nazis were coming from, but that doesn't make them right and it doesn't mean I agree with them. He asked me if I thought he was a Nazi. I told him there was some resemblance in his actions. After that he made it a point repeatedly that he does not view himself as a Nazi. I more or less ignored these comments. At the end he said it was nice to meet me. I couldnt think of anything nice to say, so I couldn't really respond to that.
Then I went to class and on break, I was standing there talking to my friends and I heard a loud thump and a jangle behind me. Somebody had thrown a water bottle at me and missed, hitting the fence between us. While I was turning around, someone else picked it up and handed it back to Vince. Vince (see previous bigot) threw it at me again and it hit the back of my coat, but not me. I finished talking then went inside and filed a complaint. One more thing and he'll be expelled.
I've decided that tomorrow I'm going to go in and try to get the help of my english teacher who I know supports me being who I am, and the law teacher, who would be a big help if he decided to be.
if that doesn't work, I'll see what the ACLU will do for me.
