The National Center for Transgender Equality is looking to fill two
important positions within our growing social justice organization. The
two positions are:

1. Program Director (description below)
2. Development Manager (description below)


The National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) is a Washington,
DC-based national social justice organization devoted to ending
discrimination and violence against transgender people through education
and advocacy on national issues of importance to transgender people.

We are looking for people with a very positive attitude and an interest
in making a significant difference in a quickly-growing human rights
organization.

1. PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Program Director will manage and perform programmatic,
communications and some administrative functions including:

* Oversee all programs, conferences, community forums and outreach
functions
* Work closely with the Executive Director to develop short- and
long-term programs; assume primary responsibility for management of
programs
* Create and maintain work plans that move projects forward
* Manage internal and external communications with support from
Community Resource Manager; manage NCTE's media relations
* Provide general office supervision
* Perform administrative duties as needed
* Coordinate Board of Advisors (BoA) projects with BoA steering
committee
* Recruit and manage interns and volunteers
* Insure timely website management
* Coordinate telephone and email requests for resources

The Program Director must be detail-oriented, hardworking,
self-motivated and have a devotion to transgender rights and an
unequivocal commitment to social justice and respect for all people.
Three to four years or more of program experience and strong writing and
presentation skills are required.

Because NCTE is a small non-profit organization, all staff members must
be flexible and willing to do necessary tasks. Occasional travel may be
necessary as well as evening and weekend hours during busy periods.

Salary will be $36,000-$40,000 depending on experience and skills.
Health insurance and paid vacation/sick days will be provided. The
position is based in Washington, DC.


2. DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

The Development Manager will manage and perform all development
functions including:

* Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure adequate
funding levels for our growing budget, staff and programs
* Research, schedule and write foundation grant applications
* Prepare and submit grant reports
* Manage major donor relations, including working with the
Executive Director to identify and cultivate new major donor prospects
* Manage membership relations, including expansion of current
membership base
* Manage fundraising and related events
* Coordinate Board of Director development functions
* Provide appropriate reports to the Executive Director and Board
of Directors

The Development Manager must be detail-oriented, hardworking,
self-motivated and have a devotion to transgender rights and an
unequivocal commitment to social justice and respect for all people. Two
years of fundraising experience and strong writing and presentation
skills are required.

Because NCTE is a small non-profit organization, all staff members must
be flexible and willing to do necessary tasks. Occasional travel may be
necessary as well as some evening and weekend hours as necessary.

Salary will be $37,000-$42,000 depending on experience and skills.
Health insurance and paid vacation/sick days will be provided.
