A Special Showing of "Just Call Me Kade"
May. 3rd, 2006 05:51 pmOne of the staff members at my college just sent this to me, so I thought I'd pass it on:
Join Equality Cincinnati Board Members Philecia Barnes and Scott Knox this Friday, May 5th, at 7 pm at the Mockbee for a special showing of 'Just Call Me Kade', a 26-minute documentary about the life of a young female to male transgendered person. Scott and Philecia will be participating in a panel discussion after the film along with Paula Ison.
The film documents the journey Kade Farlow Collins, a sixteen year old female to male transgendered person, travels as Kade's parents maintain their supportive and nurturing relationship to Kade regarding the many challenges facing their teenage child. Friends and family candidly express thier feelings about the transition, the changes in Kade and the impact on everyone involved.
This showing is part of ART 06, an event of socio-political expression for peace and justice at The Mockbee, 2260 Central Parkway in Cincinnati. It is free and open to the Public.
This event is sponsored by Out Reels. For more information about Out Reels and their upcoming PRIDE film festival, please visit www.OutReels.org. Equality Cincinnati is proud to be a co-sponsor of this showing.
