trans | introductory post/male chest reconstruction questions (Reply)

i've never had an actual lj account before, but i've been browsing all sorts of communities and whatnot for a while. i just made this account because i have a some questions to ask and i don't know where to start.

recently i've begun to acknowledge and come to terms with my gender dysphoria. biologically i'm a seventeen year-old girl. without going into a long and most likely confusing explanation, i'm malcontent (to say the least) being of the female sex. my problems surfaced soon after hitting puberty and have only gotten worse as i've grown up.

if it were possible, i would prefer to have no gender at all, to be fully androgynous, neutral, without any sort of defining sex organs. i'm not sure if i feel like "a boy in a girl's body," however, i do know that having breasts and a vagina are a major source of self-loathing, anxiety, and anguish for me. at this point in time i don't know if i'd ever consider sex reassignment surgery, or if that would even be necessary for me to be content with myself.

i don't know anyone personally that has ever had to deal with anything like this, and i figured you guys might be able to help answer some of my questions.

lately i've been researching surgery options, in particular male chest reconstruction (top surgery). if i were to decide to get my breasts removed in the future:

would it be necessary for me to go to some sort of counseling or therapy to get approved for it? how do i go about this? does anyone know the approximate cost of such a procedure and/or if i would be able to get it done when i am eighteen?

if anyone can answer my questions, has had the surgery, or has any general advice it would be greatly appreciated.
