Crunch time, really need your help...
Mar. 27th, 2009 09:20 amHey, so I'm a college freshman and I'm working on a linguistic anthropology project on gender neutral pronouns and identity. I'm really interested in how language keeps people confined within the gender binary (basically you have to pick a side, etc) and how pronouns like zie or hir can really change that. Anyway, so I have to incorporate my own research into the project (the end result will be a paper) so I thought I'd conduct some interviews (via email) with some people I knew who used gender neutral pronouns. Well, I currently have two people who have responded to my interview and I really need three or more, so although I feel like a jerk posting on livejournal communities I really need the help. I know that probably not a whole lot of people in this group use gender neutral pronouns, but if you do use them (or have used them in the past), please contact me. I have a short survey that asks questions about how you heard about these pronouns, how you use them, etc. It really wouldn't take much time at all and I'd be really apreciative. Your identity would be protected, I have a consent form that informs you of everything that's going on, and you can back out at any time.
If you're curious and just want to know more, or if you think you'd like to participate, email me at bap1721@truman.edu
Feel free to email me even if you just think the project sounds interesting, I'd love to hear your opinions on the topic.
