I'm doing a workshop at the Philly Conference. It's for parents raising kids who are trans or gender variant.

I would like some help gathering some thoughts.

What are some issues that "normal" kids go through when growing up, that may be a drastically different experience because they are trans? If you went through them, how did you handle it? What are some things you would have liked to know when you were growing up?

For example, how would you have handled the sex talk? How should a parent talk to their gender variant child about safe sex?

Some other things I am thinking of touching on are-

Middle school years
Disclosing to people
Getting drivers licenses if names aren't changed
Dating
Making friends
