a few questions...

I joined because I have a sudden interest1 in the subject of transsexualism, and am hoping that I can get some reliable, in-depth information for an article I'm writing. Here are a few starter questions--if I get some good responses to these, we can proceed to have a more detailed discussion:
1) What exactly is a transsexual?
2) Do transsexuals like both men and women, or do they have a preference?
3) If a sex change is involved, what are the costs and procedures?
