Questions about facial hair removal
Apr. 28th, 2002 05:59 pmI'm sorry if it sounds like I'm ranting...
My facial hair causes me nothing but grief and torment. I have thin, overly sensitive skin, and thick nasty facial hair. Every day, I'm faced with the choice of taking a razor and cutting up my face until it hurts like hell just to achieve a five o'clock shadow, or not shave and end up looking like a neanderthal.
Soon, I will be going to visit my lover for a week, and I want to be able to spend it living as a woman. It's something we've been planning and looking forward to for a long time, and I don't want to let my facial hair get in the way. Normally, I shave every other day in order to give my skin a break, but that won't work if I'm trying to pass as a woman; yet, if I shave every day, my skin will form all sorts of bumps and ingrown hairs.
I've tried plucking my face before, but after six hours and only clearing my chin and upper lip, I realized it wouldn't work. I've also tried waxing, but with no success. It seems like most waxes and waxing services are made for genetic girls, because they don't work on the thick hair I have (either that, or I'm just not doing it the right way.)
I have a few questions that I was hoping some of you who have dealt with facial hair might be able to offer me some insight or help:
1) Have any of you had success with facial hair waxing? Is there a particular brand that works best? Are there any beauty salons which offer face waxing for people like us? Or is there a better way of simply getting rid of facial hair for a week?
2) I'm also looking into permanent hair removal; though, I can't seem to get any straight answers simply by surfing the web. Every web site offering their own product will of course say it works; there's also the matter of the FDA's definition of "permanent" not exactly being permanent. Some places say that only electrolysis is permanent, whereas others say that a *certain* kind of laser will also work, and still others say that laser will only keep the hair away for 6 months or so.
Unfortunately, I just don't have enough money for electrolysis, and I'm too skeptical of just about everything else. I tried buying something called "Ultra Hair Away", but the results are so limited, that I'm not sure if the stuff actually works, or if it's just that certain patches of my hair are in a different stage of growth.
Has anyone had laser hair removal and found it to work permanently, even after a year or so?
Is there anything else that actually permanently removes facial hair over time?
Even if you've tried something that doesn't work, please let me know, so I can avoid it.
Thank you so much! *huggles*

Asexuality community
Apr. 28th, 2002 06:38 pmHi,
I've just created a community for (sex positive) people with little or no sex drive.
asexuality
Discussion of all types of queer relationships is welcome. Trans identifying asexuals are welcome.
