Hi I'm Alcina

Some of you may recognize me as the creator of Alcina's chat which, while it was open, was the number one transgender support chat on the Internet with over 3 million page hits per month. I built my chat on the same principles as this forum, all inclusive of the entire TG community.

Quite frankly I think Nezumi would do as well as I in caring for this community which is why I haven't really put forth much effort here. The most important thing to me is that the community retains its "open to all" philosophy. There is, even within the TG community, a certain elitist cast system that I have always strongly objected to. One very popular Transsexual site goes as far as saying that the word "transgender" is a nonsense word that attempts to link transsexuals with "fetishes such as cross dressing".

Because of this I have come to view the word "transgender" as representing the fact that we are all in this together; that we are all fighting for the right to exist as who we are; that we all need to support each other. So I think it is important that this community retains this ideology. I love the way the user information page for this community is written and I hope it stays that way.

Hugz to all
Alcina

Hello, this is Rook, a friend of Nezumi's, who has just joined the community.

Alcina has pointed out that the community icon isn't really that nice. Who wants to do something about it? One answer might be something like the Necker Cube, or if we're feeling boring there's always the good old Mars/Venus sign. In any case, you have a volunteer for the graphic design; are there any more ideas floating about?
