Late Night Update
Aug. 23rd, 2004 01:55 amGreetings again to all...
It's about 2am in the morning here in Michigan and everyone in the house is asleep. I'm using this time to let everyone know about my trip thus far.
On Friday I got into the airport in Detroit and had to wait for more than two hours for my uncle's plane to get in. That sucked. And then we drove (through insanely busy rush-hour traffic) to his house in the 'burbs (about 35 minutes outside of Detroit).
On the way, we stopped (as usual) at the grocery store so that I could get some things that I like to eat in case they didn't have something... From the supermarket he let me drive his brand new lincoln town car (*SWEEEEEET*)
We got in and my aunt had made spaghetti (her specialty) and we ate and talked and it was pleasant.
Saturday morning was pretty dull. My uncle and I went on a search for goya empanada shells so I could make empanadas. Apparently, here, goya brand is not a popular thing (not surprising as I say maybe a hand full of latinos over the course of 36 hours). So I ended up just making calzones and he and my cousin ate them and all was plesant again. We went to Blockbuster and rented some flicks (The Butterfly Effect is a pretty good movie) and I went to sleep.
Today we went to my uncle's fathers house (he's not my real grandfather so I don't really refer to him as such except to his face) and visited. We talked some politics and about racecar driving and cars (remember, I'm acted like a straight male here) and then he went to give my uncle a haircut. While they were doing that, I went into the living room and searched through old photo albums, taking out pictures of my grandmother (who died 10 years ago) and my dad (who died 8 years ago) so that I can scan them onto my uncles computer and save them onto disk...I don't have many pics of my dad or grandmother so...(fyi, my uncle offered to give me my dad's ashes, as he was cremated after he died, and I told him I'd have to think on it...I believe in spirits and I feel like my dad's spirit might be a little too close with his ashes in my house. What do you think??)
Ok, so after leaving, we went and visited some other people and came home. My 26 year-old (very heterosexual) cousin K__ (not gonna type his whole name) invited me out with some of his boyz...at first I said no but since he and I used to be like "brothers" when we were kids, I finally agreed. How did it go? Well let's just say I'm fucking exahaused...not because of time but because of effort. I've never tried so hard to act like a straight guy in my LIFE. And it only got harder when we were watching tv (and getting drunk) and some gay guy was on and they started talking shit about him... And apparently they all want to go hang out again tomorrow night...*sigh*... anyway, I guess it's good my trip ends Wednesday because I definitely couldn't take much more of this. I love my cousin very much and overall I have to admit I had a pretty good time with his friends but it sucks that I have to pretend to be someone I'm not just be accepted by my FAMILY...
Anyway, I'm off to bed. Take care and be well.
