Coming out stories

I thought it might be fun/interesting/inspirational/cautionary to share first coming out stories and people's reactions. Either your own or someone coming out *to* you. Post 'em if you've got 'em! :D

My first time was my girlfriend. My first girlfriend. It was highschool, and though I'd known myself since as early as I was able to remember, that was when the depression became nearly unbearable. I couldn't stand feeling so alone anymore, so I needed to talk to someone I trusted. Someone who I was important to, if that makes any sense.

We drove our usual shopping circuit and stopped in the parking lot of a Borders where I nearly gave myself a panic attack working up the courage to talk to her. When I did, she didn't understand and needed things explained to her, after which she told me she'd always seen it in my eyes, and mentioned that the eyes are the windows of the soul. Immediately after that she came out to me as bisexual, which wasn't much of a surprise to me, but I guess some things just need to be said.

just a quick intro then my question. i'm 24 and spent the last 4 years in the air force, but am now in cleveland. i pass most of the time, and am really suprised when i get called female. i guess i've known my whole life that i was born with the wrong body. there wasn't much i could really do while in the service, except get treated for the depression that comes along with it. but now i can start transitioning.

my question is this...can anyone recommend a good therapist? i'm hoping to avoid the bad ones. i haven't really heard either way how most therapists are but in my own experience the bad ones are to be avoided.

Do you need a letter from a therapist to get chest surgery?

Also, do you have to be 18 for chest surgery?
