Ello,

do you all remeber how livejournal once only offered the two binary gender options in profile information. well another popular internet site is doing the same thing. the widly used My Space is now in the middle of a battle between themselfs and US the transgender population. I did NOT start this battle but am asking you all to help. It may seem like a simple little thing but we need to stand together. so want i am asking is if you have a my space account message Tom and tell him your resoning for wanting the change. they stated that they wont change because "theres not enough of us" well we need to show them were out there. and also contact My Space but the contact link thats at the bottom of their home page.

XOXO
Vanessa Marie

PS. heres my letter that i sent under the heading Transgender Rights:

Hello,

I understand that I have not been a member very long, but as a proud transsexual I do feel alittle bit "left out" because you only provide the two binary genders which are Male and Female. I have been forced my whole life to fight for my identity, and I feel like My Space IS an open community, but still 'some of us' (mostly the transgender community) are left standing out side the gates, because as one of your My Space co-worker's stated: "There aren't enough of you to equalize the hassle it would put on us to change the options." well if you feel that there aren't enought of us just type Transgender, Transsexual, Tranny, GenderQueer, Gender-less, Etc. into your search engine and tell me what shows up; and if you dont want you use your own program against yourself I'll tell you what is there. A HUGE group of people that are force to choose something that they are fighting agaist. I don't mean to be rude, thats not the reason I am writing this. I am writing this because I LOVE My Space. I LOVE using it, and all the people I have met from using it, many of them being TRANSGENDER. LiveJournal also had this happen to them, and they HAVE changed their options. Because we will be heard. all WE ask for is another option, be it "Transgender", GenderQueer", or even "Other." We just want to be us. Thats all we ask for.

Hi. I wanted to bring forth an issue that we hope would help to blur the gender line. I know many have accounts on Myspace.com and have noticed that they have only supplied male/female options. Previous requests by other members to add an "unspecified", "transgender", or "genderqueer" option have been replied with a "There aren't enough of you to equalize the hassle it would put on us to change the options" type response. So, I am here to humbly request that any that have had a problem with having to chose between the two, to please write to Tom or the Help page on Myspace and demand that we will not be silenced until we are recognized.

Thanks
M.

*note: I did not start this movement, but I am gladly escalating it.*
