South Park had a new season start yesterday! Mr. Garrison got SRS with Dr. Beiber, and they showed REAL (not comic) footage! WHOA! I didn't like the spin they put on it though. At the end it turned out ok... but they made it look like a freakish operation! It was funny, but I didn't like the light they painted transpeople in. They repeatedly made fun of it, and I dunno, it kinda put me off. Alot. *sigh* I guess South Park mocks everything, but Transfolk are already painted in a poor light to get negative reactions after the show... *sigh* On the whole I think it was a negative, not positive influence on the general public concerning transsexualism... other parts WERE humorous... Kyle got a Negro-plasty (transracial), and his dad was transpecies, and became a dolphin! What the Hell!!!???

On the whole I think it was a hefty blow to transsexualism, with the average folks who tune into the show. A negative influence that was not needed, when we need to positively enforce that we ARENT freaks.

Anyone else see it and care to lend an opinion?

Sorry for Cross Posting!!!

Polyamorous Relationship Study

Are you in a polyamorous relationship? Does your relationship include

at least one individual who self-identifies as queer, lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgender, dyke, intersex, two-spirit, third sex,
gender-variant, omnisexual, and/or pansexual and include at least one
individual who self-identifies as polyamorous? Do you live in the
United States of America?

If you answered YES to the above statements then you are invited to be

part of an academic study titled: "Queering Polyamory: Configurations,

Public Policy, and Lived Experience."

The study and further information can be found at
http://mavdisk.mnsu.edu/gardnt1/qpsurvey/. Due to an open
essay/question format the time needed to take the survey will vary,
however a half hour to an hour is expected.

Thank you for your time,

Hi,

My name is Kiwi and I am a transgender graduate student in NYU's Higher Education Administration program. I am currently doing a class research project with a couple of my peers on transgender undergraduate experiences. The findings of the project will be presented to my class whose members are all future higher education administrators and would benefit greatly from the knowledge. I also hope to use the experience to help me develop a future research project on the same topic that would be larger in scope and more legitimate. As you may know, very little has been written on transgender college students and I would like to help change that.

I am currently searching for NYC-based transgender undergraduate students to interview. If you are one, or know people who are, please get in touch with me as soon as possible. I can be contacted at kag220@nyu.edu.

Thanks,
Kiwi
