IT Conversations has this interview available:
Dr. Moira Gunn speaks with Johns-Hopkins' Deborah Rudacille about scientific definitions -- science now shows us that tens of millions of people do not fall into the physiological definition of either male and female. They talk about her new book: "The Riddle of Gender: Science, Activism, and Transgender Rights."

The implication of the PETA attack ad is pretty interesting.

Now I know this forum is not exactly the place to discuss "drag" but the implication here in the ad campaign is that a man dressing up and pretending to be a woman is the worst possible insult to hurl at this fur user. And it's a two-pronged assault because calling a woman a man is one of the worst put downs within the black community.

No surprise coming from Peta. But as someone who has many animal activist friends, I've been told that PETA often sets back the clock on the public's perception and acceptance of the real issues behind animal cruelty.

Hey all.

First off, I'd like to appologize for x-posting this all over the place.

I am a senior at Lake Forest College, in Lake Forest, Illinois. I am currently working on my senior honors thesis, and I am in search of participants to fill out a questionnaire concerning experiences as a transgender individual. The term ‘transgender’ is an umbrella term used to encompass many different groups of people. I am specifically seeking individuals who identify as transgenderists, transsexuals, transvestites, gender dysphorics, intersexuals, crossdressers, or drag queen/kings. I hope that by enhancing understanding of the transgender experience we may increase social acceptance of transgenderism.

Should you choose to participate, your responses to all questions will be confidential and anonymous. You will not be asked to place your name or other forms of identification anywhere on the questionnaire. Thus, it will be impossible to match you with your data in any way.

Thank you for your consideration in participating, as it is much appreciated!
