Trans Abroad?

Hi all! I'm new here and I was referred here by transacademics. I'm a no-op, non-passing mtf living in California and my girlfriend and I just accepted English teaching positions in Yantai, China for this next school year. We're both really excited and really nervous, but one thing I'm extra nervous about is living as a transperson abroad. I live in a pretty liberal area so I'm used to being able to go to bars and parties in drag; somehow I don't think I'll get that opportunity in China. Anyway, I wanted to ask if anyone here has worked/studied/lived abroad for any long period of time and if you had any problems or success stories. Thanks!

San Diego Comic-Con

I was just wondering if there were any transpersons attending the San Diego Comic-Con this week. I'd love to meet someone new to hang out with. I'll be walking around tomorrow dressed as Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars. I was going to alternate days being Leia and the Emperor, but I couldn't finish my Leia costume in time. Anyway, catch me if you see me, I'll be wearing a big black cloak and walking with the gnarled black cane. I'll check this thread again tomorrow, post if you're gonna be there!

i was thinking today - what exactly does passing mean? i mean does brian molko "pass" as a male? does tracy chapman "pass" as a female? . i was just thinking about this. i mean, if brian molko can "pass" as a male, then i definatly can too if i fill in my eyebrows and bind my breasts, right?

i dont know. i just thought it was a valid point, especially as someone who would like to stop the masculinity at a very feminine, yet still "passable" level.

i dont know. i just want to take T and at least get a breast reduction (if not a mastectomy) and that's it.

i dont know. am i ftm? am i transgender? no. im just a nancy boy.
