I'm finally ready to seek the help of a professional counselor for my M2F inclinations. However, I'm not sure where to start looking for a good one.

I'm not looking for someone who'll just nod and agree and then give me my HRT prescriptions after a few sessions. I want someone who'll make me grapple with this stuff and help me understand where I am and where I might be going. I also have relatively unrelated emotional stuff I'd like to delve into, so I guess broad experience beyond TG issues would be a plus.

Here's a list of TG-friendly Bay Area therapists someone sent me a while back:

Names and Numbers Snipped )

I could go down the list and investigate each one myself, but first I thought I'd ask if you gals and guys have any good (or bad) experiences with these or other local therapists. It's better to get some recommendations than to start cold-calling people, ne? And oh yeah, price is a consideration too. ^_^;

Edit: Oh yes, TransBay has a listing too, some entries with a few more details.

First of all thanks for whoever it was who posted the link to the Transgenerations episode online.. I watched it last night and it was very cool.

I think it's great to circulate this in the T* community but I took things a step further and posted a blurb about the series in the main Atlanta livejournal, [livejournal.com profile] atlanta.

Most people are very curious about us and I can't think of a better way to educate than with real life stories. I think Transgenerations is a perfect introduction to our world for the mainstream.

So today, I came out to my Nana. Mom's mother.

It was spur of the moment too.

My mom is like, "You wanna?" And I'm all "Whatever."

So I'm not going into details. I'll give you the basics.

mom: So basically, *birthname* is Transgendered.
nana: Wait wait wait. Does that mean... *thinks* Oh. I know what that means. It's when you're born a girl, but should have been a boy?
me: Yeah, exactly.
Nana: So you have the wrong body?
me: Yeah...
Nana: Wow. Damn that kinda sucks huh?

rofl.

All in all, it was 110% perfectly fine.

Im not sure if this is the right place to post this, but since most people using T are FTMs i figured it wouldnt hurt to ask. Im not exactly FTM, im more of a FT?, because i am intergender and love androgyny... so i dont want to cross over to all male, nor do i wanna remain all female.

For those who dont know my history so far, its under this cut )

So my question is, does anyone know what the regular levels of T are for a female, and what they are for a female with VERY HIGH levels of it, which cause masculinization, but not enough to shut down her estrogen levels? I mean, i know there's a condition where females produce too much testosterone for a female, but not from testicles (that'd be intersex), and its not enough to interfere majorly with her cycle or her estrogens, but just enough to masculinize.

OR, even better, if anyone here has, knows or has read about someone who's been biofemale, and taken minuscule doses of T to achieve a very slow or light masculinization, without side effects such as the ovaries shutting down (which i know happens after a long while on T, but still), basically, without harmful side effects?

Thanks!
