hi i'm new, and just starting out on the whole transgender thing. i'm born-female, but i have a strong male side. no one in my family knows about the male side of me, and that is one of the reasons i could never transition. i don't have any friends (outside of LJ) that know about it either, and it kind of makes it a bit hard to have this secret i'm keeping from all of them.

basic stuff about me: i just bought my first packer (a mango, really easy to use and very comfy to wear. sometimes i can't help but fondle myself when i have it on, lol) and have been getting to know the "male" side of me, which tends to definately be more dominate in my head than the female side. i was thinking about names for myself, and i think i'm going to go with David or Joshua, but i'm not sure yet. i want to let the man in me out more often, but it's hard because i know that a lot of people i know wouldn't be accepting of it.

anyway, i've been reading some of the posts here and some of the comments that people in this community have been writing to each other, and i'm very happy to join because there seems to be a lot of people out there that i can relate to and you all are very nice and helpful to the other members in the community.

so, now for a general question for you all: what is the best piece of advice you would offer to someone who is new to the transgender world?

Planning Meeting for Boston's Transgender Day of Remembrance

7:30p-9p at JRI, 25 West Street office, 4th floor. (near downtown
crossing, off Washington St.)
(Do come after the Panel Discussion: Legal Protections for Gender-Variant People:
Challenging Discrimination, we are down the street from this event)

Planning meeting is open to all community members. This will be the
7th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, come help plan the event
for Boston's Transgender and Allied communities.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those
who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The event
is held in November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder in 1998 kicked
off the "Remembering Our Dead" web project and a San Francisco
candlelight vigil in 1999. Since then, the event has grown to
encompass memorials in dozens of cities across the world. This year's
Transgender Day of Remembrance is Sunday, November 20th.
