... am I the only one that's noticed a link between pedophiles / childlovers and transsexuals?

I mean, we all pretend that the gay rights movement had no ties to pedophilia, but that was for political reasons, and looking back on it we should all be able to realize that now. there IS a correlation between pedophilia and homosexuality; we know that, we just don't talk about it. I am not saying that being gay makes you a child molestor or anything along those lines, so please don't mindlessly flame me. there's been a correlation throughout history (pederasty in greece being the obvious example), and there is one now.

there are causes for this link that perhaps may begin to explain it. for example, young gay people may have trouble finding other young gay people that're sure of themselves and out, so they might tend to go to adults that're out instead to seek a relationship.

beyond that, as a friend pointed out, it's possible that since gay individuals have already had to come to terms with having an "alternative" sexuality, they may be more likely to realize that they actually ARE attracted to kids, and more likely to be open about it.

then there's the issue of law enforcement, scandal, and publicity. plenty of people turn a blind eye when a woman is involved with a boy, but if it's a man with a boy, it's somehow noteworthy on an entirely different level.

this isn't what I'm interested in though: I'm interested in a correlational link between transsexuality (particularly of the male-to-female variety) and pedophilia. I've certainly noticed one, and friends of mine have noticed the same. but it's not the sort of thing I've ever seen anyone talk about in public.

if you agree that there is one, what do you think the cause might be?

personally the only thing that's come to mind for me is simply that transsexuals obviously didn't have the sort of childhood they'd ideally want, and therefor may be somewhat more likely to develop friendships with children in a way most adults probably otherwise wouldn't; transsexuals may be interacting with children AS children of the correct sex for the first time in their lives.

Please forward widely

Exciting news on the Trans equality front!!

An Amendment to Northampton City Ordinances specifically adding "Gender Identity and Gender Expression" as "Covered Categories" protected by all existing Non-discrimination ordinances, will be brought before the "City Council Ordinance Committee" on Tuesday evening December 13th at 7:30 PM in the Council Chambers (directly behind City Hall).

Testimony and comments from all interested people will be heard, and if all goes well as expected, the Amendment will be introduced for the first of two rounds of votes at the Full City Council Meeting on Thursday December 15th @ 7:00PM. Please contact me if you can speak, and even if you do not choose to speak, please attend both meetings to show your support.

This is a very exciting time for all fair minded people; Northampton may become the Third Massachusetts City to specifically include Gender Identity and Expression in their statutes.

This is also the last MTPC effort at the Local level before a planned Campaign Statewide in 2006!PLEASE join with us in support of this much needed and long overdue Legislation!

If you live in Northampton, please contact your Council Members (if you are not sure what Ward you live in and therefore who your Council member is , contact Susan Geary at susan_g_tg@hotmail.com for the information.) Others from outside Hamp can also write to the City Council directly, expressing their support. We at MTPC also hope that all fair-minded people from all Communities will join with us in the State Wide Campaign. Watch for details some time next year.

Once again I personally would like to thank you all for your support and encouragement. Stand tall and be PROUD ; WE WILL PREVAIL!!!!

Anyone know if I should put my gender or my sex in the "gender" box on my ucas?

I know it's stupid to ask, but this goes to my university, I want to identify as male, but it might become a problem as my college currently has my gender as "female".

Is it worth the push? Or will it cause too much paperwork.
