For privacy's sake I'm generalizing.

I just got a new job very recently at a VERY large business, one of the top in oakland county. I like the job, it's simple but it's gonna take a bit to get used to, and I interact with a whole bunch of people which is both good and bad. I like a lot of the people I work with and as always there are people who I'd really rather do without but the environment is pretty decent. 99% of the people can tell I'm gay even though I havent said anything either for or against. It's nice 'cause I can finally just be myself without prior anything screwing up any one's perception of me, unlike my last job that was pretty prejudice and I didnt dare act anything other than straight male.

Today while in the break room for some reason, someone mentioned that there was a trans person who we all work with but works across the building, 2 floors up and on a different shift than mine. Seeing as we're open 24 hours it's easy for me to not work with this person, but the fact that they exist and are currently employed is absolutely wonderful. I was worried how I would approach the situation with HR when the time came that there was no more concealing anything, but now at least I know they've addressed the situation before so it wont be completely foreign to them when I become the talk of the staff. Now I just really want to speak to this person, go have coffee or something(I'm really diggin those chai lattes) and see if they can offer any pointers. I'm so giddy, I really want to pick her brain.
