Hi everyone,

I made an interesting observation recently. You see, where I work (ie. a student counselling service at my university) we are required to fill out a "client information form" for statistical purposes. The form itself includes basic things like, name, major, etc. However, this form also includes a heading titled "Gender (M/F)". A few days ago I realized that I ask everyone who comes in whether or not they are male, female, or other. (The reason it only dawned on me now was that the guy I most recently asked it to seemed to be taken aback by the question, which ultimately caused me to become aware of the fact that never assume anyone's gender).

Has anyone else assumed that everyone is perhaps transgendered until proven otherwise?
